Trixie Pitts creates large lyrical paintings mainly in the style of abstract expressionism. Her resolutely intuitive process often references nature, her travels being a huge inspiration. A deeper inspiration has been to use painting as a metaphor for the process of transforming her early life emotional trauma into something positive. According to Trixie, trusting the struggle is where her magic happens, and her use of color, movement and spontaneity seems to create order from chaos. Born in Canada, Trixie has lived in Hong Kong, London and New York City, but finally put down roots in Nashville where she has a studio. Previously, while living in NYC, she studied with Larry Poons and painted at the Art Students’ League. She has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group-shows in NYC. Trixie has also exhibited in Hong Kong, Toronto and Nashville.
